The JPEG process compresses images into streams of bytes which are then decompressed back into the image that was taken. A minimal amount of quality is lost in this process, but it remains the most popular file for storage of digital camera images. If you see MPEG on a digital camera, it means that it can take video clips as well as images. LCD is the abbreviation for Liquid Crystal Display and refers to the display screen of your device.
